Roofing

[icon] - Question

I have been told I can hang Hardrow slates. What is hanging and can it be done?

[icon] - Answer

Hanging is when the nails are pushed through the nail holes and the nails hang over the back of the batten instead of nailing directly into the batten. This can only be done on pitches lower than 40°. If hanging is being carried out, the first two courses, top course and all verges should still be nailed directly into the batten. Roof pitches of 40° and areas of extreme exposure should be nailed directly into the batten.
