Project Description:
The project is to construct two apartment blocks for Pegasus
Retirement Homes and a short stay welfare facility for the Royal
British Legion. All the buildings have large quantities of
cast stone upon them.
The architects design is sympathetic to the surrounding buildings and as such the cast stone is very detailed. This is further complicated by the fact that the apartment blocks are being constructed with load-bearing walls whereas the Royal British Legion is a framed construction.
Forticrete have been working with Armstrong Burton Architects, Rokgroup and Taylor Maxwell to progress the architects design into general arrangement drawings for use on site and production drawings for use in manufacture. Regular site meetings have taken place between all parties so that the sequence of cast stone detailing, manufacture and delivery are in line with site requirements.
Whilst this project is on going the first building (the 14 apartment building) has been completed and is now in use as a marketing suite.
