Description of Project:
The supply of over
600 window surrounds as well as band courses, copings and ashlar to
change the buildings use from a hospital into apartments.
In the main, the building structure was being retained with the
window surrounds being fixed into existing openings by the
subcontractor. The existing openings were not consistent in size,
even though they should have been; this meant that nearly every
surround was different. As a result every window had its own
reference and a surround was made for that specific window and was
individually packed on its own pallet.
As the pallets had to be craned up to onto a loading gantry then
transported by pallet truck through timber walkways (as the top of
the upside down floor had been removed) we had to provide special
pallets to use on the pallet truck.
Detailing, manufacture and delivery had to be co-ordinated with the
works of the Main Contractor and Sub-Contractor which was carried
out by the use of regular site meetings.
