Project Description

South Yorkshire Housing Association; the lead Registered Social Landlord for the West Rotherham Area Development Framework were commissioned to provide a total of 71 new homes from a mix of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses and bungalows on the 1.75 hectare site, of which 26 are for shared ownership, and SYHA in turn commissioned Cartwright Pickard Architects to develop proposals for the Canklow Woods site.

The development had to meet Scheme Development Standards, have an EcoHomes rating of 'Very Good' and be Secured By Design and approx. 4000m² of Forticrete's Gemini Slate Grey concrete roof tile were chosen as part of the specification.

Cartwright Pickard Architects began developing proposals in June 2006, work on site began in April 2007 and the project was practically complete on 21 July 2008.
