Case Study - Precast - Islamic Da'wah Academy, Leicester

Project Description

Forticrete's capability to create bespoke pre-cast Florentine elements facilitated the building of the ornate Islamic Da'wah Academy in Leicester. Pre-cast bespoke masonry, in Ivory and Autumn, and standard Florentine Ivory masonry feature prominently in the development, led by contractor JH Hallams and architect's Pick Everards.

The exterior entrance way of the Dawah Islamic Academy was formed from 100m² of Florentine Ivory and 3 bespoke polished pre-cast Ivory arches. For the internal atrium, Forticrete supplied a total of 464 bespoke units creating 15 columns and 14 arches in polished pre-cast Autumn.

Commenting on the project, Paul Simcock, Area Sales Manager at Forticrete said: "We helped Pick Everards select the right Architectural Masonry products to match exactly their vision for this building. Pick Everard supplied drawings detailing their design requirements and our in house CAD engineers then modelled the individual units required to replicate the architect's design.

Due to the complexity of product scheduling, and in order to suit the construction programme, the project required special attention and therefore was serviced on a one to one basis by our Contract
Management team."

Lead architect at Pick Everards, Chong Wong, said: "The building features many contours, both angular and smooth, and ornate window areas. Forticrete's products were specified because the company's flexible manufacturing processes resulting in a wide range of product options and finishes. The products have the strength and durability of concrete, but can be created to match the design specifics of this project."
