Project Description:

Forticrete's Florentine  masonry features on the new £15million education and teaching block at the University of Dundee opened by HM The Queen on 2nd July 2007.

The new building for the University of Dundee will provide a total of 7000 m² of high quality teaching space. The new building will arrange the site by means of three separate but linked building elements, which combine to create strong civic forms and define new public spaces. Its main entrance is expressed as a new public space framed by the edges of the new building elements and the glazed link between them.

A gently radiused block faces east, presenting a continuous sweeping curve from a raised landscaped garden to the main entrance area at the corner of east and south elevations.

The new building is a contemporary design of the highest quality with a restrained palette of quality materials comprising polished masonry, smooth acrylic render, glass and steel and stainless steel woven mesh. It will be a gateway development designed and constructed to the match the highest aspirations of both the University and the City.
